Article from Wikipedia:
Monica's Gang (originally titled Turma da Mônica in Portuguese) is a popular Brazilian comic book series created by Mauricio de Sousa in 1959.
Plots are centered on the adventures of a group of seven-year-old friends in the fictional neighborhood of "Limoeiro" in São Paulo. The neighborhood was inspired by the neighborhood of Cambuí, in Campinas and the city of Mogi das Cruzes, where de Sousa lived his childhood. It is the main series created by cartoonist, and also holds a series of mini-groups, in which the characters go through various adventures everyday. The term can also refer to all characters ever created by Mauricio, but, strictly speaking, not part of "Monica", such as the characters of Chuck Billy 'n' Folks or Bug-a-Booo.
The first characters of series were Blu (Bidu) and Franklin (Franjinha) published by Editora Continental in 1960. Monica's Gang was published by publishers Abril and Globo and has been published Panini Comics since 2007.
